Students in the early elementary levels will have experience using both desktop and laptop computers in their classroom environments as a part of ordinary learning experiences. As the children progress in the grade levels, their classrooms will be equipped with more computers, including laptops.
In the Academic Honors Program, each student has access to a laptop computer, as technology is integrated seamlessly into the curriculum.
The fifth graders and all Prep School students (grades 6 - 8) have full access to laptop computers. The computers are provided for the students by the school at the teachers' discretion. Therefore, the students benefit from the technology when the teachers deem it is appropriate for learning, but they will not be distracted by the technology when the laptops are not going to enhance a particular lesson or activity.
Riviera’s wireless network and laptop program engages students in the higher grade levels through various advanced academic exercises. With wireless laptops, each student in the classroom can explore the Internet and use the network resources. Teachers can create interactive and in depth lessons using the latest technology and accessing relevant and current information. Teachers can also use wireless presentation systems and interactive white boards in conjunction with laptops in order to allow an entire class to experience lessons together.
