Meet and Greet (6-12)
Once an applicant for grades 6 - 12 is admitted, our Counseling Department will communicate with the new family via email to schedule a Meet and Greet. This appointment will cover information students will need to begin their middle school and high school careers successfully. During these Meet and Greets, students will be able to select courses, learn valuable tips regarding the transition into our school, ask questions, and meet their counselor. Parents are an important part of this meeting and will also have the opportunity to ask questions and make important decisions regarding their child's schedule.
Meet the Teacher Hour (PK-5)
All students in preschool through grade 5 are invited to attend a Meet The Teacher Hour during the week before the first day of the new school year. This informal session gives students an opportunity to meet their teacher, meet other students, and see their classrooms before the official start of school.
Tablet Training
New students entering grades 3 - 12 are required to attend a tablet training session with at least one parent. Various tablet training sessions are scheduled throughout the summer and up to the beginning of the school year. At the end of the 90 minute session, students go home with their tablet, keyboard, stylus, charger, and case. They will also know the basics about navigating the tablet, signing into the internet, accessing apps, logging into our school portal, and checking email.

Online Portal
Our school management software gives you, the busy parent, an opportunity to get more involved in your child’s academic progress and future success. It also allows the students to access various information, as the students also have login access.
The Parent Portal is a private and secure portal that will allow parents to view academic information specific to their children, while protecting their children’s information from others. You can see your child’s grades, attendance, homework, and conduct, as well as other useful school information. You can also communicate with teachers and other school staff online whenever necessary. The school directory is also located within this portal so that you can find contact information for other Riviera families.
Parents and students can access the system through an internet browser on any device.
Families receive detailed information on accessing the portal prior to the first day of school.

Food Policies
Due to the increasing number of students with food allergies and other dietary sensitivities, all members of the Riviera Schools community must be very diligent in following the rules with regard to exposing children to food products. When bringing food from home, students should not bring any products that contain peanuts or that have been manufactured in a plant that processes peanuts. Other than authorized lunch and snacks, employees may not give food or beverages to students at any time unless specifically authorized by the headmaster or principal.
The Day School campus has a NO FOOD POLICY. Other than food provided by the school as a part of the lunch or snack program and food sent by a parent for his/her child as a part of lunch or authorized snack, NO FOOD OR BEVERAGES shall be given to the children by any employee, parent, or student at any time except as provided herein.
Food products (which includes anything edible) may not be given to the children as rewards, incentives, gifts, or otherwise. Food products may not be given to the children before, during, or after school. Food products may not be given to the students to take home.
There will be no class holiday parties involving food products.
No gum or candy shall be allowed in school. Employees will confiscate any gum or candy immediately when found. If candy is provided by parents as a part of lunch or snack, it must be eaten at lunch time or snack time only; if not, it must be discarded before leaving the lunch area.
