Sweet Beginnings: The Honey Veil Story (Follow-up)

Honey Veil is a successful South Miami business that grew from a small cafe truck into a popular local shop famous for its matcha, coffee, and homemade sourdough treats.

After gaining attention as a café truck in South Miami, Honey Veil has continued its growth, opening a permanent storefront and expanding its customer base.

In recent months, the shop has experienced a noticeable rise in daily traffic, especially in the mornings and on weekends, when customers gather for drinks and baked goods. The once-limited setup of a mobile café has transformed into a full-service space where customers can sit, study, and socialize.

“It wasn’t easy at first,” Cecilia Alcobe, one of the founders, said. “We had to build trust and show people what made us different.”

That effort has paid off. As demand has grown, Honey Veil’s Instagram following has jumped from 121 to more than 25,000, helping the business reach a wider audience and attract new visitors from across the Miami area.

With the increase in customers, the shop has expanded its menu. In addition to its original offerings, Honey Veil now serves seasonal drinks and refreshers, giving returning customers new options to try. Popular items such as matcha drinks and sourdough pastries continue to draw consistent interest.

The changes are noticeable to regular customers who have followed the business since its early days.

“I remember going there as a student when they didn’t have so many options,” Gabriela Venerio said. “I am so happy seeing them grow because now they have customers around the block.”

Other customers have also seen the shift from a small operation to a growing business.

“I remember when Honey Veil was just a tiny stand at the Coconut Grove farmers market,” sophomore Khloe Llanos said. “Now, I’m sitting in their actual store sipping matcha. It’s been so cool to watch them grow and expand over the last few months.”

As the business has expanded, the team has continued to rely on customer feedback to guide decisions. From adjusting menu items to introducing new drinks, the founders say listening to their audience has played a major role in their success.

The shop’s journey from a farmers market stand to a food truck and now a permanent storefront reflects steady growth over time rather than overnight success. Each stage allowed the team to build a customer base and refine their brand.

Today, Honey Veil stands as a small-business success in South Miami, serving a steady stream of customers each day. The café has become a popular spot for students, locals, and visitors looking for coffee, matcha, and fresh baked goods in a relaxed setting.

Despite its growth, the founders say they remain focused on the values that helped them start.

“We remember where we started,” Regina Alcobe, one of the founders, said. “That’s what keeps us motivated every day.”

As Honey Veil continues to expand, its growth reflects how small businesses can evolve quickly when supported by a strong and engaged community.
