RSPC February 6, 2018 Meeting Highlights:
Welcome - Allison Cohen
Day School - Dr. Rodriguez
The Valentine’s Day is coming to an end this week, where students get to purchase gifts for their friends. Re-enrollment has begun and will continue through February 15. Our graduating 5th graders will be meeting with Prep school counselors in order to review course selections for 6th grade. Career Day was an amazing event, where children got to hear about many careers and professions. We are currently working on setting a date later on in February for the National Elementary Honor Society Induction ceremony.
Prep School - Mr. Snay
By the next meeting in March, we should have the bulk of college acceptances. As Dr. Rodriguez mentioned, the Prep is getting ready to receive incoming 5th graders in the fall, so our counselors will be visiting the Day School and reviewing course selection with them next week. This week, Taste of Nations will be taking place, a wonderful celebration of diversity and culture, with performances and food from all over the world. In February we also have Bulldog Breakout week, February 20-23. During that week, our Middle Schoolers will be visiting Circle F Dude Ranch, 9th Grade will visit San Francisco, 10th Grade will go on the Close UP trip to Washington DC, 11th Grade will taking the Boston college tour, and our Class of 2018 will visiting NYC. Special activities and events will take place for the students that remain on campus. Our Talent Show is February 15.
Athletic Director - Courtney Young
Athletic Program continues its growth. Students are enthusiastic about adding even more sports to our athletic department. We have added Track & Field to our spring season. Basketball comes to a close as we have our senior recognition this evening for Ellis Greenstein. We are looking forward to another amazing spring season with exciting sports such as water polo, Lacrosse, and baseball, boys volleyball, and tennis. We count on and appreciate your continued support.
Social Committee - Shannon Salstein & Liz Perez
Thanks so much to everyone that came out for Food Truck Frenzy! It was a great event, and a Riviera Family favorite. We also would like to thanks George Koukourinis who always helps us with securing the food trucks that join us. On Friday, February 9, we will have our Parents vs. Teacher basketball game at the Prep Gym. It’s a super exciting event filled with friendly competition. On February 13, please come support the RSPC at Chill-N Nitrogen Ice Cream in South Miami; a portion of all proceeds that day are donated back to the RSPC.
